Oil is slowly seeping from the gap in the travel reduction gear case.

We refilled the gear oil and the job was complete. Undercarriage oil leaks are easy to miss, so carry out daily inspections.
Repair Details
First, we drain the gear oil and remove the lock wire.
We carefully remove the gear case using a sliding hammer.
More oil remained than we expected. Fortunately, the planetary gears were fine.
Where the O-ring was seated, there was rust and mud that should not be there.
We polish the O-ring contact surface and apply grease.
We also polish the O-ring contact surface on the motor side.

Today we show an oil leak repair on the travel reduction gear case of a Kubota RG30C-3 hydraulic excavator. Oil was leaking from the gear cases of both the left and right travel motors, and urgent repair was needed.

Continuing to use a machine with undercarriage problems can lead to serious accidents. Travel motors in particular get covered in mud and sand, so a leak like this can go unnoticed until all the oil has drained out. The travel motor can then be completely destroyed, which means a very expensive repair. Above all, repair oil leaks immediately.
